Play Area Facelift starts next week

Date: 30/06/2009

Harpur Hill makeover to be finished by end of July

Exciting new equipment will start to take shape on a popular Buxton recreation site on Monday (July 6).

The transformation of Harpur Hill Play Area, which is being carried out by High Peak Borough Council, is being funded by the BIG Lottery and Derbyshire County Council Playbuilder money, and should be complete by the time the school holidays start at the end of July.

Based on the findings of public consultation, the improvements will include:

The consultation featured visits to Harpur Hill Primary School, drop-in events at Harpur Hill Children's Centre and St. John's Hall, and questionnaires delivered to local residents.

Said Cllr Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "This is great news for the people of Harpur Hill, and I would like to thank them for their comments and contributions, which have helped shape these improvements.

"Getting local schoolchildren involved in the consultation has been fantastic - after all, these young customers are the ones who'll use this facility", he pointed out.

The play area will close while the work takes place.
