High Peak Community Safety Partnership has been awarded £30,000 to fund Operation Blue Gill - a campaign to reduce domestic burglaries in Buxton and Glossop.
The funding is made up of £15,000 from the Local Area Agreement and £15,000 from Derbyshire Police and partners.
Operation Blue Gill includes:
The operation will help groups of residents in Fairfield in Buxton and Gamesley and Tintwistle in Glossopdale who may be vulnerable to domestic burglary.
Community Safety Inspector Tony Dales said: "This operation is about making sure people know how to make their homes secure and reduce the potential for a break in.
"At the same time we hope to ensure the more vulnerable members of the public
have access to other services that can support them and offer help with other needs they may have."
Andrew Bingham, Chairman of High Peak Community Safety Partnership and Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development, said: "High Peak is a low crime area and safe to live in. This project will help to keep the High Peak safe at a time when burglary could increase because of the economic downturn."
