Business-to-Business Event at Buxton

Date: 11/05/2009

HIGH Peak businesses looking to find new leads, suppliers and partners on their doorstep have been urged to attend a free event to be held in Buxton next Tuesday 19 May, 2009.

An open invitation was issued this week by High Peak Borough Council, which has thrown its weight behind a "Do Business in Buxton" session scheduled to take place between 10am and 5pm in the Dome at the University of Derby's Buxton Campus.

Marketing company First Impression - who have bases in both Glossop and Buxton - are staging the event in a bid to put High Peak businesses in touch with each other. Throughout the day, hot tips will be on offer with promotional ideas, tax advice and business support. The "getting to know you" initiative will take the form of speed networking sessions, complemented by workshops on crucial business issues including accountancy.

Helen Duncan, Managing Director of First Impression, said she had found quality suppliers and customers right on her doorstep and added that "Using other local companies makes good sense as it not only benefits the individual business, but also cascades benefits to the wider local economy. In addition it helps reduce business miles, which is good for the environment!"

The Buxton event follows a similar one held at Glossop in March this year. Among those attending the Glossop seminar was Sara Porter, from Sara Porter Photography who reported that "The event really helped me promote my business and generate new work for the company in the High Peak."

The Buxton seminar has been welcomed by Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration and Economic Development, who commented that "This initiative is very supportive of the Borough Council's policy to work with partners and businesses to develop the local economy. I'm delighted First Impression has agreed to host another "Do Business" event in the borough, and would urge local businesses to attend and make the most of what should be another excellent event", he said.
