Harpur Hill play plans to be unveiled at drop-in sessions

Buxton families have been urged to have their say on exciting plans for a brand new wild play area at Harpur Hill.

The invitation was extended this week by High Peak Borough Council, which has secured £65,000 in grants to transform land into an innovative and adventurous play space using natural materials reclaimed from the site.

Now, the council is to stage two drop-in sessions on Wednesday 10 June. The first consultation will take place from 3.30pm to 4.30pm in Harpur Hill Children's Centre, Trent Avenue while the second will run from 5pm to 6pm in St. John's Hall, off Burlow Avenue.

Residents can pop in to either venue to comment on the proposed design and layout of the new play area, on which work should start in early July for completion that month.

Council officials and play officers will be on hand to talk about the proposals, along with representatives of the play company contracted to do the work.

The council has obtained its funding from the Big Lottery Play Improvement Programme and from Derbyshire County Council's Playbuilder pot, made available as part of the Government's £235m drive to transform local areas into exciting wild play facilities featuring equipment made from natural materials.
