Runners with big lungs and even bigger hearts have been urged to put their best foot forward for charity on Sunday 21 March next year.
The gauntlet was thrown down this week by High Peak Borough Council, which is to back Sport Relief with three runs in Buxton's Pavilion Gardens and a further trio in Manor Park, Glossop.
At both venues, the action will start at 10.30am with a one-mile run suitable for people with disabilities and parents with buggies. The fun run will be followed by three-mile and six-mile races, both starting at 11am.
Entry costs £5 for adults aged 16 and over or £2 for children under 16. Alternatively, there's a discounted family ticket costing £12 for two adults and two children.
To sign up, just visit www.sportrelief.com and click the panel called "The Mile". For runners not online, it is possible to enter on the day or by calling (020) 7820 5555.
High Peak first supported the biennial event two years ago, when around 500 runners raised an amazing £10,000.
This year's High Peak runs are being organised by Paul Evans, the council's community sports co-ordinator.
Said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "To raise £10,000 two years ago was a fantastic achievement but I'm confident that the wonderful people of High Peak will do even better this time around. Taking part in the runs is also a great way to keep fit and have fun with family and friends".
