Council hits the road with recycling message

With High Peak's recycling rate hovering around the 40 per cent Government target, the Borough Council is taking to the road again to give its kerbside collection service an even bigger push.

Recycling officers will be out and about on the following dates to offer top tips and remind residents of the comprehensive service on offer:

Said John Haken, Executive Councillor for the Environment: "High Peak's recycling rates have quadrupled over the last five years and are now in line with Government targets. This is due to the fantastic response of residents to our kerbside recycling service.

"However, we're determined to maintain the momentum which is why we've organised road shows to offer recycling advice and remind everyone of what's on offer", he explained.

Collection calendars for 2010 have been posted to households with the winter edition of the Connect magazine. If residents have not yet received the magazine, they should call 0845 129 77 77 or (01298) 28400. Alternatively, householders can send an e-mail to customer-services@highpeak.gov.uk. Some collection dates may change over Christmas and the New Year. Any alterations will be published to the website and publicised via the media. From Monday 7 December, stickers providing further information will be placed on all bins.
