A free course has been lined up for Glossop people looking to lose weight and feel more confident.
Running at the Leisure Centre for five weeks from Monday 9 November, the NHS Weight Matters programme will explain how you lose weight and keep it off.
Organised by High Peak Borough Council, DC Leisure and Tameside and Glossop NHS, the course will also look at making the right choices when eating out, getting active, managing stress and improving self esteem.
The course will take place in the lounge between 6.15pm and 7.45pm, and will be led by a trained NHS instructor.
Participants have to be 16 or over, live in Glossop or be registered with a Glossop GP, and agree to sign up for the full five weeks. The course is free to anyone who is overweight
Said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "Clients lose an average of four pounds and around one inch off their waist when they complete the programme. They also feel healthier and more confident. I would urge anyone who wants to get in tip-top condition before Christmas to sign up".
As places are limited to 12, would-be participants should enrol as soon as possible by calling (01457) 851627 or visiting http://www.highpeak.gov.uk/leisure/glossopleisurecentre/weight.asp.
