High Peak Borough Council wants to hear from local residents to find out how they think their council tax should be spent and which services are most important to them. The Borough Council is responsible for spending only about 12% of the council tax it collects; Derbyshire County Council, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Police and parish and town councils are responsible for the rest.
Currently planning its budget for the next financial year (2010 - 2011) the Council is keen to hear people's views so they can be considered and included in next year's Corporate Plan.
The plan sets out how the Council aims to improve services over the next 12 months but most importantly, the services identified as priorities for investment and development and those services where savings should be made.
Emily Thrane, Executive Councillor for Corporate Services said: "Money is particularly tight at the moment, both for council tax payers and the Council. We want to get the best value for money for our residents so we want to hear from as many of them as possible about which services they think are most and least important and the areas in High Peak that they feel are worthy of investment and improvement."
