Residents from across the East Midlands will have the opportunity to find out more about developing their own community groups at a special event organised by the Energy Saving Trust. The event will also celebrate the achievements of Northamptonshire Climate Friendly Communities programme.
The Energy Saving Trust launched its "Green Communities" programme in July this year and will be hosting the event to announce the five East Midlands community groups chosen for the support programme.
The Green Communities programme offers a range of services including access to a funding database, training courses, consultancy and technical expertise, community bursaries and an online community carbon calculator tool.
The free event is at Sixfields Football Stadium in Northampton on 23 September 2009 from 6pm onwards.
Those attending the event will hear from a range of speakers from established groups, renewable technology installers, the Energy Saving Trust advice centre and local authorities.
There will be the opportunity to network, a free buffet and every attendee will receive a free tree to take home and plant either in their own garden or in their community.
Denise Marsdon, Centre Manager for the Energy Saving Trust advice centre for the East Midlands, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people across the region to come together to learn how to make a difference in their communities."
