Tintwistle voters will go to the polls on Thursday, October 22 to elect a successor to borough councillor Cynthia Mitchell, who died in the early hours of Sunday 23 August.
Voting will take place in Tintwistle Village Hall from 7am to 10pm but residents who are new to the borough and wish to have their say will need to complete and returned their electoral registration form by Wednesday 7 October.
Residents who have not moved in the last 12 months will be eligible to vote in this election and poll cards will be sent out shortly.
Wednesday 7 October is also the deadline for postal vote applications while voters wishing to appoint a proxy to vote for them have until Wednesday 14 October.
A member of the ruling Conservative group, Councillor Mitchell was elected to High Peak Borough Council and Tintwistle Parish Council in May 2007. She served on numerous committees including social inclusion and community, and development control, as well as representing the borough council on Tintwistle Community Centre Committee and Glossop Police Liaison Group.
She was elected High Peak Deputy Mayor in May.
