Conservationists have revealed plans to extend a conservation area protecting the historic core of a High Peak village.
The Borough Council has tabled proposals to expand Charlesworth Conservation Area as far as 70 Town Lane and by including fields to the south east of Marple Road and to the west of Back Lane.
The recommendations have arisen from independent character appraisals, commissioned by the Council, of the Charlesworth and Holehouse Conservation Areas.
Character appraisals define what is important about an area in terms of character, architecture, history, development and landscape.
Now, residents of the two villages can have their say in a public consultation running from Thursday week (29 April) to Friday 21 May.
A leaflet explaining the proposed boundary changes will be delivered to all properties in the two conservation areas. In addition, the appraisals and recommended alterations can be viewed online at www.highpeak.gov.uk or a hard copy can be viewed at Glossop Municipal Buildings and Library.
Said Head of Regeneration Perry Wardle: "We'd welcome the public's views on the content of the appraisals and proposed changes to the conservation area boundary.
"Character appraisals are important documents that help ensure appropriate development in conservation areas", he explained.
