Weight watchers have been offered a free chance to follow a six-week programme boasting average weight loss of between four and six pounds plus one or two inches off the waist.
The invitation was extended this week by High Peak Borough Council and DC Leisure, which have joined forces with Tameside and Glossop NHS to run a six-week NHS Weight Matters course at Glossop Leisure Centre.
The course runs from Wednesday 27 January to Wednesday 3 March, and will take place in the lounge at the centre from 1pm to 2.30pm.
Weight Matters will cover topics including:
The course will be delivered by fully-qualified NHS trainers who will advise on getting active, managing stress, improving self esteem and making the right choices when eating out.
Satisfied followers of previous courses include Susan, from Glossop, who enthused: "The course helped me understand how to change my lifestyle - and I've lost weight!"
Said Andrew Bingham, Executive Councillor for Social and Community Development: "A balanced diet and regular exercise are crucial to a healthy weight and lifestyle. Weight Matters is there to offer a helping hand by enabling people to get in shape together, and perhaps make new friends as well".
