Development Control

Our Development Control team considers applications from property owners and developers who want to build new structures, make alterations to the fabric of existing buildings, change the use of land and buildings, carry out engineering operations or erect signs and advertising. They ensure that all development is within the approved policies of the Council, seek the views of neighbours and others who may be affected by proposals and take appropriate action against any unauthorised development.

Pre-Application Discussions

It is often beneficial to discuss a development proposal with the Council before a planning application is made. We can give you an opinion as to whether you are likely to get approval for your proposals and let you know of any information you may need to provide or inform you of any other special requirements. A charge is made for certain types of pre-application of advice.
