The Building Control Section holds the public register for Initial Notices received from approved inspectors for both commercial and domestic works.
This information is available for inspection on the Approved Inspectors Register.
The information held on the building control register of applications is NOT a publicly viewable register.
Therefore all enquiries relating to whether Building Regulation applications exist on a property, where no application number is given to assist in this search, whether from a Householder, Solicitor or a Personal Search Company, will attract an investigation charge of £16.60.
In addition there will be the appropriate charge for the copy of documents of £16.60 for either a copy Completion Certificate or Approval Notice.
Please Note
There has only been a formal procedure for issuing completion certificates for application submitted after 1 June 1992 and then only for full plans applications.
When a search is made through the Land Charges section the council is required to reveal application information under the CON 29 process. Work that is carried out by a Competent Person, such as a Part P registered electrician or a CORGI registered installer is held on our system under one of the following references:

As the Local Authority, we are required by law to hold a basic record of these types of works, but there is no application, just a record that the works were carried out. Any relevant documentation for these works should have been passed on to the owners of the property.
