The process of bidding for funds from HLF, to support a Glossopdale THI, began in 2004 with the submission of a Stage I bid document to the HLF and included public consultation and stakeholder events to gain local support. Subsequently, a stage II bid was prepared and submitted to the HLF in November 2005 and was approved in early 2007.
The key aim of the THI is to promote the social and economic regeneration of the wider area through the enhancement and regeneration of key historic buildings in Glossop’s town centre. To ensure that the funding is spent in the most beneficial way, key projects have been identified during a series of assessments and through public consultation events to determine which buildings or spaces would benefit the most from grant funding.
A condition and structural survey was undertaken for all buildings, structures and features that make, or could make, a positive contribution to the overall historic character of the area, within the scope of the THI boundary.
A list of proposed works and estimated costs were identified for each project. From this, the THI key projects were determined.
Glossopdale THI is a grant funding partnership between Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), High Peak Borough Council (HPBC), Derbyshire County Council (DCC) and Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership, working alongside and encouraging private investors and developers to promote heritage regeneration and enhancement in Glossop Town Centre.
