Local Development Framework

Significant changes have recently been made to the planning system. In an attempt to introduce a speedier and more flexible development plan system, Structure Plans and Local Plans are being replaced by Local Development Frameworks (LDF). Local development frameworks are intended to streamline the local planning process and promote a proactive, positive approach to managing development.

LDF Breakdown

The LDF for High Peak consists of a portfolio of Local Development Documents (LDDs) that set out the spatial planning strategy for the Borough. These documents include:

Local Development Scheme (LDS)

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) explains what each of these documents are, what areas they cover and how they relate to each other. The Scheme also sets out a timetable for the production of new documents over the next three years or so. The Council will measure progress against this published timetable and it will also form part of external assessment of the Council’s planning services.

Annual Monitoring Report

Annual Monitoring Report

Progress in implementing the Local Development Scheme (LDS) and the operation of the policies of the LDS will be monitored through the Annual Monitoring Report. This will be monitored for the year from April to March and must be published by the following December. This will also indicate if policies require revision or if new documents need to be prepared.
