High Peak Borough Council requires new developments to demonstrate high standards of design and construction contributing to the sustainable development of the area. Design and Access statements are thus expected to include a statement on sustainability.
With the exception of householders, the authority expects anyone submitting a planning application to show how their application meets Local Plan policies relating to sustainable design and construction. The simplest way of doing this is to complete the checklist provided in the Guidance Note on Local Plan Policy: Sustainable Design and Construction.
A planning application that includes a completed checklist as part of the Design and Access Statement will be considered as having met the requirement for a sustainability statement.
