Time to nominate your High Peak sporting heroes

Give your local sporting stars a chance to shine by nominating them for the High Peak Sports and Physical Activity Achievement Awards. The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional sporting talent and achievement across the Borough.

Nominations are invited for; individuals, teams, coaches, community and volunteers who live, study or work in the Borough. It's your chance to shout about the successful sporting talents and rising sports stars of the future.

Anyone can make a nomination and the closing date is 12 January 2020.  The awards ceremony will take place at Buxton Pavilion Gardens on 5 March 2020.

Criteria for nominations

CategoryCriteria
Senior Sports Team of the YearThe Team of the Year Award is High Peak's best team. Demonstrating amazing sporting ability and embodying the true spirit of team-work, this award is for the team that have put in the most inspirational performances across the course of the last year.  

Individual teams who have achieved success in their chosen sport as district, county, regional, national or international level will be eligible to enter this award
Volunteer of the YearThis award recognises an individual within the High Peak who has given up their time and energy to lead and inspire within an organisation, for example within a sports club, school or youth club. An inspirational individual and example of true dedication, the winner of this award will be involved in helping to engage others in sport and physical activity, as well as being a valuable part of the community.
Coach of the YearThis award celebrates the manager or coach who has made a significant  voluntary contribution to the success of their team or club over the past 12 months. Their hard work and dedication is recognised in this category and the winner will be celebrated for their contribution to their chosen sport.   

A qualified coach or manager (unpaid) who has made a major contribution to the lives of people through their coaching or managing will be eligible to enter this award.
Club of the YearThis award recognises the most outstanding High Peak club.  This applies to all aspects of the club both on and off the pitch.  This award celebrates a club that the whole of the High Peak can be proud to get behind.  We also want to honour clubs who include social and community engagement , encouraging more people to be involved in sport and physical activity, helping to keep people engaged and having a positive impact on people's lives.
Service to SportThis award recognises the huge contribution in helping others to get active, and take part in sport.   This category is open for nominations for people who have given 20 + years of voluntary service to sport.

It will be awarded to an individual or organisation who has changed the quality of life and improved the health of the people of High Peak. Applications are welcome from schools, workplaces, community clubs and organisations or individuals with a compelling story to tell about a unique contribution to changing lives. 
Junior Sports Team of the YearThis award recognises a school, college or youth team that has excelled in its chosen sport. Demonstrating an inspiring level of dedication to achievement, great teamwork and building upon their success continually for excellent results.   

11-18 years, includes school and college teams
Junior Sportsman of the YearThis award is designed to highlight the sporting stars that we will all enjoy watching in professional sport in the future. Celebrating the achievements of a hugely talented young sportsman up to the age of 18 when nominations close, this award recognizes the dedication, hard-work and sheer skill of the county's most promising young talents.

 Up to 18 years
Junior Sportswoman of the YearThis award is designed to highlight the sporting stars that we will all enjoy watching in professional sport in the future. Celebrating the achievements of a hugely talented young sportswoman up to the age of 18 when nominations close, this award recognizes the dedication, hard-work and sheer skill of the High Peak's most promising young talents.
Up to 18 years
Sportsman of the Year The Sportsman of the Year Award celebrates the High Peak player in any sport that has most impressed this year. Quite simply recognising the best of the best, this award goes to an outstanding individual that the whole of the High Peak can be proud of!  

Entrants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level.
Sportswoman of the YearThe Sportswoman of the Year Award celebrates the High Peak player in any sport that has most impressed this year. Quite simply recognising the best of the best, this award goes to an outstanding individual that the whole of the High Peak can be proud of!  

Entrants will have displayed an outstanding level of personal achievement at district, county, regional, national or international level.
Innovation of the YearAwarded to a voluntary organisation, group or individual that has challenged the norm and created something so different that it has changed the way people feel or act in their community. Nominations should show evidence that the activity / or project has had an impact on physical activity in the High Peak.
