Proposed Sale of Land at Hogshaw, Buxton

The Council intends to sell its land at Hogshaw, Buxton to deliver  new housing development that meets the local housing requirements established in the adopted Local Plan.  The site is in a combination of private and Council ownership. The development site needs to be brought together into a single ownership in order to deliver a comprehensive scheme of new homes, supported by appropriate open space and play facilities for new and existing residents.

The Nunsfield Road Allotments are not part of the intended land sale and will remain in Council ownership.

The Council are working in partnership with Homes England and have secured  funding under the Housing Infrastructure Fund Programme (HIF), towards the construction of  the Fairfield roundabout and link roads (which secured planning permission in summer 2020) to  access the housing sites and make them viable developments.  Delivery of this infrastructure will unlock the allocated housing sites in the Local Plan and facilitate the remediation of contaminated land, helping to bring forward much needed new homes for local people. Further information on this can be read here.

Part of the Council's land for sale is public open space that includes play equipment and  a former sports pitch, known as Hogshaw Rec. As such the Council is required to advertise its intentions to sell the land. The sale of the land will be conditional on submission of a planning application  which will be where all planning and environmental issues will need to be fully considered. In particular, but not exclusively, the remediation of contaminated land ( Hogshaw Rec), drainage and flooding matters, location of the replacement children's play space close to Hogshaw Villas, and the replacement and betterment of accessible open space on the site.
