There is now a charge for bin supply.
A significant reduction in central government funding means we have a reduced budget and like many other councils are no longer able to provide wheeled bins free of charge. The charge is to cover some of the supply and administration costs.
Who has to pay?
The charge applies to everyone. When a bin is missing, stolen, damaged or not present when you move into a property. The charge also applies if you want to swap to a larger or smaller bin. Fees apply to all bins regardless of size or colour.
It's not my fault the bin is missing or damaged; I pay my council tax so why do I have to pay extra?
Your Council Tax covers the cost of waste collection, it doesn't cover the cost of bin supply.
I don't want to pay for a new bin. Can I buy my own or put my rubbish out in sacks?
No. We will only collect waste from wheeled bins provided by us.
How can I prevent my bin from going missing or getting damaged?
You can reduce the risk of your bin going missing or being stolen by marking it with your address and returning it to your property as soon as possible after collection.
Who is responsible for paying for bins shared between properties?
Residents who use shared bins are jointly responsible.
What do I do with my rubbish until the bin is supplied?
Store your rubbish in sacks and put them inside the bin when it is supplied.
I want to recycle more; do I have to pay for a larger recycling bin?
Yes, the supply charge applies in all cases.
Someone has taken my bin; why should I pay?
It is your responsibility to look after your bins.
I've had a note from the crew; do I still have to pay?
If we have spotted your bin is damaged we will let you know.
Can I have a refund if I order the wrong container?
We are unable to give a refund once the bin has been delivered.
Will you still collect my waste if I don't pay for a replacement bin?
We only collect waste presented in one of our bins or specified containers.
