Christmas bin collections information now online

With Christmas just around the corner having to remember any changes to bin collections over the festive season is the last thing on 'to-do' lists.

And - thanks to High Peak Borough Council's online bin day checker - no-one will need to!

In summary, collections of black and brown bins which usually take place on either Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day will be changed and green bin collections will be suspended over the Christmas period.

Full details of bin collections are now available and revised collection dates are clearly shown in red.

Whilst no green bin collections will take place between 24 December and 4 January, residents can still put vegetable peelings, leftovers, cooked and uncooked food waste and all manner of festive garden foliage in the bin ready for collections to restart on 7 January.

Executive Councillor for Operational Services, Emily Thrane, said: "We want to make accessing Council services as easy we can and making information such as bin collection days available online is another step towards doing that.

"It means that residents can check their specific collections just by entering their street name or postcode and then selecting their address - and they can do that at any time of the day to suit them.

"The seasonal holidays will mean that there are some changes to waste collections so having this sort of practical information at your fingertips means it's one less thing to remember at this busy time of year."

More information about waste and recycling - including information on what goes in your bins and household recycling centres (tips) - is available here.

Anyone unable to access the online bin checker can call the Council on 0345 129 7777 and the Customer Services team will be happy to help check collection dates.
