Deputy Mayor of High Peak

The current Deputy Mayor for High Peak Borough Council is Councillor Paul Hardy who represents Old Glossop. The Deputy Mayoress is Mrs Mary Hardy, Paul's Wife who will attend community events alongside him.

Paul has lived in Glossopdale all his 66 years. He grew up in Hadfield and attended St. Andrews Primary School and Glossop Grammar School. He married Mary in 1974 and she has also lived here all her life. They have 2 sons, David and Daniel, who both live and work in Glossop, and a grandson, Alex, who they devote much of their time to.

Paul was a parent governor at St. Mary's School in Glossop where both his sons were educated. He ran the school and church football teams and organised frequent competitions with other schools and churches around the area.  He was one of the founder members of Glossop Juniors Football Club in the mid 80's and his very pleased to see how successful they have become.

He runs a leaflet distribution company with his son based in Glossop and they cover much of the High Peak. The business has been established for 12 years and it is great to see new, and established businesses thrive with the support they give them.

He tries to support his wards local interests by attending the Friends of Manor Park and the Old Glossop residents meetings.

Paul's main hobby is fell walking and Paul and his wife are members of two walking groups, they try and get out into the beautiful Peak District three or four times per week.

Paul is honoured to be Deputy Mayor and will do his best to make his term of office a success.
