Waste collection changes FAQs
From 20 October 2025, waste collections of most properties in High Peak will change.
We're making changes to most residents waste collections from 20 October.
If your scheduled collection day is changing, or if the order of bins you put out is changing or both we will send you a letter marked 'important information about your bin collections' to confirm your new schedule.
Please keep your letter so you can refer to it once the changes start.
Information about your new collection schedule isn't currently displaying in the online calendar but will be available soon.
Contact bins and recycling if you haven't received a letter but think you should have.

Why are you changing the collections?
This change is part of a wider effort to improve collection route efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and save costs — while continuing to provide a high-quality service. Most properties are affected in High Peak.
Can I opt out of the changes?
No. These changes are essential to improve efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure long-term sustainability.
I receive assisted collections — will that continue?
Yes. Assisted collections will automatically transfer to your new collection day. No action is needed.
Do I still put the same things in my bins?
Yes. The only changes being made are to collections — what you put in each bin is staying the same.
How do I find out what my new collections are?
All residents affected by the collection changes will receive a letter detailing their new collections. The letter will also include 4 weeks of collections - keep your letter to help you know when to put you bins out.
When was the letter sent? I've not received anything yet.
Letters were posted via Royal Mail on Monday 29 September. We anticipate they will arrive between Wednesday 1 October and Tuesday 7 October.

I've not received a letter about collection changes — what should I do?
If you have not received a letter, you may not be affected by the changes.
My collection day has changed — has which bin to put out on each week changed too?
In some areas, yes. Check your letter or use the online tool to confirm.
Additional Waste
If you have any additional recycling waste as a result of your bin day changing please put extra recycling next to your bin in an open carrier bag or cardboard box.
My bin is usually collected after 10am — could the time change?
Yes. The routes have been redesigned, so crews may arrive earlier or later than usual.
Please present your bins by 6:00am on your collection day or the evening before
Will my collection point change?
No. Continue to present your bin at your usual location by 6:00am.
