Council seeking independent member to review processes

High Peak Borough Council is looking for an independent person to help keep its governance and financial reporting processes on track.

The Council wants to appoint an independent member to its Audit and Regulatory Committee which reviews the Council's governance, risk management, control frameworks and financial reporting processes as well as overseeing the arrangements for internal and external audits and elections.

Anyone wishing to be considered for the role should be politically independent and experienced in one or more of the following areas: accountancy; internal audit; risk management; governance; or legal matters.

Executive Director Mark Trillo said: "The committee meets four times a year and this role is key to underpinning the excellent standards of management our residents have every right to expect of the Council.

"The work is challenging, innovative and provides a real opportunity for the successful candidate to make an active contribution to our corporate governance."

There is an annual allowance of £395 for this role and expenses will also be reimbursed.

Anyone wishing to informally discuss the position can contact Linden Vernon in the Democratic Services team on 01538 395613 or email linden.vernon@highpeak.gov.uk
