People living and working in Glossopdale are being urged to protect friends and family from Covid-19 and do their bit to help keep local businesses open after the area was placed in the 'high' alert category in the new England-wide three-tier system.
It follows an increase in positive cases in the area which are now amongst the highest in Derbyshire at more than twice the average across the county.
The new restrictions which come into force on Wednesday (14 October) and apply to people living in the wards of Dinting; Gamesley; Hadfield North; Hadfield South; Howard Town; Old Glossop; Padfield; Simmondley; St John's; Tintwistle; and Whitfield.
It means that people in these areas will no longer be able to meet other households in any indoor setting and should only travel if essential.
These measures are in addition to the need to continue to wash hands frequently, wear a face covering in enclosed spaces, stay at least 2 metres away from others and stick to the 'rule of six' including children.
Councillor Anthony Mckeown, Leader of the Council, said: "As prevention measures are tightened in Glossopdale it's a real call to action to everyone that following the rules is the only way of halting the spread of the virus and of stopping further restrictions on local businesses and the economy.
"We've all worked so hard to protect our loves ones and to support our local businesses as they have re-opened but the number of cases is rising so we need to strengthen our resolve and all play our part in bringing the number down.
"If we don't reduce the infection rate we risk seeing local businesses closed again and the impact that will have on local jobs and the community. But if we act now we can prevent that - so it's now more important than ever that we stick to the rules. Do it for friends, do it for family and do it for all the residents of Glossopdale."
All other areas of High Peak are in the 'medium' risk category where the hands, face, space and 'rule of six' rules apply.
Councillor Mckeown added: "The virus doesn't know where one risk category ends and another begins so the only way we're going to keep the transmission rates under control across the Borough is by doing the right thing - and that means all of us following the rules where we live at all times.
