Energy Rebate

We will not be phoning or sending texts to ask for bank details to pay the energy rebate.

Should you receive such a request please report it to Action Fraud.

Energy Bills Support

The government has announced that further funding will be available to those who did not automatically qualify for the Energy Bills Support Scheme.

Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Funding (EBSS AF)

This scheme is targeted at households that missed out on the energy bills discount scheme, due to not having a direct contractual relationship with their energy supplier.  Examples of those who are eligible to apply include:

  • residents of park homes
  • residents of care homes (those who pay for some or part of their care fees)
  • residents of a houseboat or a mobile home
  • those that live off the electricity grid

Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £400. This money does not need to be paid back.

To make the process as simple as possible, those people who are eligible for the EBSS Alternative Funding need to submit a short online form via the government's website at

https://www.gov.uk/apply-energy-bill-support-if-not-automatic

Please be aware that you cannot apply direct to the local authority

A dedicated customer helpline is available to assist households who do not have internet access or who need help with their application.

Telephone: 0808 175 3287
Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm

After completed applications have been submitted, processed, and verified, payment details for the eligible household will be shared with local authorities, who will deliver the one-off, non-repayable support.

Alternative Fuel Payment Alternative Funding (AFP AF)

You may be eligible for a £200 Alternative Fuels Payment (AFP) if both of the following are true:

  • your household is not connected to the mains gas grid
  • you use alternative fuels as your main form of heating

This is on top of the £400 from your electricity supplier.

You are eligible for this payment if the main way you heat your home uses:

  • tank or bottled gas
  • liquid petroleum gas (LPG)
  • oil
  • wood
  • solid fuel

Most homes that are eligible for this payment will get it automatically as a credit on their electricity bills from February 2023.

Those people who are eligible for the AFP Alternative Funding, but have not received it automatically, will need to submit a short online form via the government's website at

https://www.gov.uk/apply-alternative-fuel-bill-support-if-not-automatic

Please be aware that you cannot apply direct to the local authority

A dedicated customer helpline is available to assist households who do not have internet access or who need help with their application.

Telephone: 0808 175 3943
