The Executive

The Executive is our main decision making group, responsible for implementing the Council's policies and budget.  Executive meetings normally take place approximately every other month, depending on business requirements.  The Executive is made up of the following Members with different responsibilities:

The Leader - Councillor Tony Ashton

Responsibilities:

·         The formulation and / or preparation of plans or strategies for consideration by Council, such as the Asset Management Plan, Community Strategy,       Corporate Strategy and Local Plan

·         Structure and Local Plans of Derbyshire County Council, Peak District National Park Authority and neighbouring planning authorities

·         concordat with Derbyshire County Council

·         The Council's reputation and external relationships

·         Strategic alliance with Staffordshire Moorlands District Council

·         Appointments to outside bodies where they relate to Executive functions

·         Building control

·         Communication

·         Development control

·         Planning policy

·         Planning enforcement

·         Leisure

·         Assets

Tourism, Regeneration and Licensing - Deputy Leader Councillor Tony Kemp

Responsibilities:

·         The formulation or preparation of plans or strategies for consideration by Council, such as the Regeneration Strategy, Peak District Sustainable Tourism Strategy and the Tourism Strategy.

·         Car Parking Strategy

·         Conservation

·         Design

·         Economic development

·         Licensing (public entertainments, taxi and private hire, including fares, fees and ranks, theatres, etc)

·         Local Strategic Partnerships

·         Markets

·         Pavilion Gardens Complex

·         Regeneration Strategy

·         Tourism

·         Town centre regeneration

Housing and Communities - Councillor Julie McCabe

Responsibilities:

·         The formulation or preparation of the Housing Strategy and Allocations Policy

·         Children and young people

·         Climate change

·         Community Safety

·         Environmental policy

·         Housing

·         Homelessness

·         Older people

·         Private Sector Housing

·         Public Health

·         Public toilets

·         Road safety including highway amenity and winter maintenance

·         Street naming

Finance and Operational Services - Councillor Emily Thrane

Responsibilities:

·         The formulation or preparation of:

·         Budget and Medium Term Financial Plan - (including Housing Revenue Account), Treasury Management Strategy and Capital Programme

·         The Constitution

·         Equality and Diversity Scheme

·         Human Resource and Organisational Development Strategy

·         Recycling Strategy

·         Arts and culture

·         Councillor development

·         Customer service

·         Efficiency / transformation programme

·         Emergency and business continuity planning

·         Employee Code of Conduct matters
