Canvass of High Peak electors now underway

Forms are now being delivered across the High Peak asking households to confirm the names of people living at the address who are registered to vote.

Household Enquiry Forms, which are addressed to 'the occupier', contain details of all those people living at the property who are registered to vote and form part of the canvass of electors that takes place every year.

Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer at High Peak Borough Council, Simon Baker, said: "It's important that every household in the High Peak returns this information so I would ask residents to look out for the form arriving and to complete it as soon as it does.

"There are several ways to respond - including online, by text or by post - so there really is no excuse not to. It is a legal requirement to respond to the Household Enquiry Form and failing to do so means you could face a fine of up to £1,000 so please don't put it off."

Each form contains a unique two-part security code that you will need whether there are changes to be made to the registered voter information or not.

If there are no changes to make, the quickest and easiest way to let us know is online at

Alternatively you can call 0800 197 9871, text NOCHANGE followed by your security code to 80212, or complete the paper form and post it back to us in the envelope provided.

Where changes do need to be made you can do by visiting the above website - or you can add or remove people on the paper form and return it to us.

Anyone who is added to the form needs to ensure they are registered to be able to vote in future elections and referendums. You can register at and you'll need your National Insurance number and date of birth to hand. Paper registration forms are also available on request.
