Chapel car park weekend closure to aid Covid vaccinations

Published on 5 January 2021

Thornbrook Road car park in Chapel-en-le-Frith will be closed to general traffic this weekend to allow patients attending the neighbouring surgery for Covid vaccinations to park there.

The car park will be closed on Saturday 9, Sunday 10 and Monday 11 January. Residents will be able to park in Morrisons car park without charge during this short period.

Councillor Anthony Mckeown, Leader of High Peak Borough Council, said: "It's great news that Thornbrook Surgery will start vaccinating High Peak residents from this weekend.

"The vaccine is the way out of this pandemic so we're pleased to be able to support our health partners as they begin the vaccination programme by making the Thornbrook Road car park available to those patients attending to receive their jabs.

"Given the number of people who will be attending the surgery it does mean that the car park will be closed to other users during this short period. I hope people will understand why we've made that decision and I'd like to thank Morrisons for allowing residents to park without charge on their car park."

The surgery is advising that people should not ring their GP for an appointment for a vaccination - you will either receive a text message or a phone call to book this appointment. Patients are also being asked not to go to the Practice on the clinic days as you will not be offered a vaccination without an appointment.
