Free parking this Christmas in High Peak

Parking in Borough Council car parks will be free again this year as High Peak residents and businesses prepare for, and celebrate, the festive season.

The Council is offering free parking in its pay and display car parks on Saturdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 December, and on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, to encourage people to support local businesses and shop local.

Parking will also be free in Buxton on Saturday 22 November and Glossop on Saturday 29 November for the Christmas lights switch-on events. The New Mills event takes place on Saturday 6 December when parking is also free.

Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "We know that offering free parking during the festive season is welcomed by our residents and visitors and gives our businesses and social events a boost.

"And this year, there's so much happening across the High Peak that people will want to be part of so I'm delighted to announce these dates. I hope this gesture by the Council will encourage everyone to make the High Peak their destination of choice for shopping, socialising and enjoying the spirit and traditions that make the build up to Christmas such a special time of year."

Whilst parking is free, other regulations, such as how long you can park for, will apply.
