Supporting recovering veterans in the High Peak

A High Peak community interest company that supports veterans with temporary housing as they recover from addiction has received funding from the Borough Council.

Building Bridges provides temporary, recovery-focused accommodation and community activities that support health and wellbeing, improve confidence and the motivation to live happy, independent, sober lives.

In recognition of this important work with some of the area's most vulnerable people, the Council has granted the organisation £10,000 towards the provision of a supported accommodation unit.

Executive Councillor for Housing, Fiona Sloman, said: "Building Bridges is a fantastic local organisation which offers much-needed support to veterans recovering from addiction by providing temporary accommodation in a safe and healthy environment and assisting them to develop the skills they need to live independently.

"I, and the Council, are delighted to be able to support this valuable work with this funding. It will help Building Bridges provide more accommodation in the High Peak and continue to deliver their in-house and community-based activities which make such a difference to individuals in need."
