Sports court redevelopment underway at Ashwood Park

Work on the refurbishment of the multi-use games area at Buxton's Ashwood Park is now underway.

High Peak Borough Council has appointed play company KOMPAN to carry out the improvements which will see new fitness equipment installed on one sports court whilst tennis will remain on the adjacent court.

The project is part of the Park Management Plan and other pipeline developments include the replacement of two bridges and the re-opening of another which has been closed for some time, as well as the refurbishment of the children's play area.

Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "We've made no secret of the importance we attach to investing in our parks and green spaces - they are valued by us at the Council and communities across the High Peak, so I'm delighted to see improvement work underway at yet another local park.

"Parks are versatile places where people can enjoy time with friends and family relaxing and being more active. That's why it's so important to provide a blend of amenities that support a range of activities and the reasons why people visit our parks. It's great news that Ashwood Park is the latest to benefit.

"The designs for the redevelopment of the sports court have been developed in partnership with the local community, Active Derbyshire and a specialist engagement company, Kakou, to ensure that the investment we're making is the best fit for this park and everyone who enjoys spending time here."

KOMPAN have recently implemented an exciting re-imagination of the sports court in Glossop's Manor Park which is due to officially open on Saturday 21 March.

The work at Ashwood Park is expected to be finished by the end of the month.
