Award-winning businesses showcase High Peak tourism
From volunteers working in the tourism industry to award-winning new businesses, cafes, pubs, visitor experiences and festivals, High Peak officially has some of the best in the business.
The prestigious 2026 Peak District, Derbyshire and Derby Tourism Awards showcase the very best of local tourism across the region and we're delighted that so many High Peak businesses brought home awards.
It's often said that people make experiences so congratulations to the Buxton Opera House Volunteers who won gold in the Team of the Year category and to Dylan Torr from the Crescent Heritage Trust who took silver in the Tourism Young Achiever award.
On The Bridge café in New Mills won bronze in the Taste Award Café and Tearoom category, whilst The Blind Bull at Little Hucklow took bronze in the Pub of the Year, and Torr Vale Tap won bronze for New Tourism Business.
High Peak experiences also featured on the highly on the winners lists with Buxton Georgian Festival winning silver in the Festival or Event of the Year award and Buxton Pottery Painting taking the bronze award for Experience of the Year.
Councillor Anthony Mckeown, Leader of the Council, said: "Congratulations to all the local businesses that won awards or were shortlisted - a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the quality and variety of the tourism and visitor economy in the High Peak.
"These awards showcase the very best in the industry so it's wonderful to see local individuals, visitor experiences, and companies recognised for their dedication and hard work.
"Tourism is such a vital part of our local economy - visitors to the High Peak contribute over £500 million to our economy and thousands of people work in the tourism industry. Thanks to business such as these, we can look forward our area continuing to grow in popularity as a destination of choice years to come.
"But don't forget, whilst these businesses and experiences may be aimed at visitors and tourism, they also, in many cases, provide a great service for the folk that live here, so if you've not tried any of our nominated and awarded businesses, why not give them a try today?"
