Twig to open in refreshed Manor Park cafe
One of the High Peak's best-loved independent cafés, Twig, is set to open the doors to a brand-new home in Glossop's Manor Park after being selected as the successful operator of the park café.
High Peak Borough Council advertised the opportunity as part of its ongoing investment in Manor Park, and Twig will now begin work to refresh and modernise the café ahead of opening in the coming weeks.
The café will be open seven days a week, serving the coffee, snacks and quality food that customers across the High Peak have come to know and love from Twig, alongside a wider range of affordable and accessible options for families and park visitors.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to welcome Twig to Manor Park. They're a fantastic local success story with a brilliant reputation, so I'm thrilled they've chosen to work with the Council to enhance what Manor Park has to offer.
"Manor Park is one of our most loved green spaces and we've invested significantly in making it an even better place to visit, with new play areas, our Active Zone and ongoing improvements throughout the park. Having a thriving café and community hub at its heart, complete with equipment hire for park visitors, is another important step in that journey.
"Twig's passion for great coffee, quality food and creating welcoming spaces makes them the perfect fit. I know the café will become a destination in its own right, whether you're meeting friends, grabbing a coffee after a walk or enjoying time with the family. I can't wait to see it open."
Mike Ball, owner of Twig, said: "We're incredibly excited to be bringing Twig Coffee to Manor Park. It's a fabulous location and somewhere that's already at the heart of the community, so we're really looking forward to becoming part of it.
"My team and I can't wait to welcome everyone through the doors. We'll be open seven days a week, serving the coffee and food people know and love from Twig, while also introducing a new range of more affordable and accessible options for families and park visitors. We want the café to be somewhere everyone feels welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick coffee, enjoying lunch after the playground or meeting friends after a walk."
Investing in the High Peak's parks and green spaces is a priority for the Council which has agreed a Parks Strategy and individual park management plans for improving and investing in these special places.
Manor Park has seen significant improvements in recent years, including the recently opened inclusive Active Zone for people aged 14 and over which complements the previous investment in new play areas and equipment for toddlers and older children. Further improvements, including additional outdoor seating, enhancements to the waterways and improvements to the park's public toilets, are also planned.
