Carelink Service

Protecting vulnerable people remains our priority and we are supporting our customers to move to an alternative provider if they choose to do so.

The Carelink service will continue to operate as normal until customers secure alternative care provision or the service closes, whichever is the sooner.

Why we have made this decision

This has been a very difficult decision. Carelink is a discretionary service provided by the Council. For several years, the service has struggled to recruit and retain the level of staff required to safely deliver the service. Customer safety is our priority; however, despite our best efforts, we can no longer provide the service safely in its current form.

Help and support

We have contacted all our Carelink customers and their families, carers, and supporters to explain the decision and what happens next and to provide details of companies that provide similar falls and emergency care response services across the High Peak.

Alternative providers

To assist you with your search for a new provider, we have been researching companies that offer similar services and have identified two providers:

Medequip Connect

• offers a telecare monitoring service 
• offers a 24/7 falls response service
• some people may get help with costs through Derbyshire County Council

Prices:

• set-up fee: £56.36 one-off payment
• monitoring and response: from £12.68 a week or £54.94 a month 
• monitoring only: from £5.62 a week 
• falls response only: from £7.06 a week

Derbyshire Light Medical

• offers a telecare monitoring service
• offers a 24/7 falls response service
• offers a pay on demand falls service
• you will not receive any Derbyshire County Council funding for this service
