Community Climate Change Fund

The Community Climate Change and Nature Fund offers small grants to help support community-led projects.

There are two rounds to apply for funds for different projects.

  • Round one will run 1 April 2026 - 31 May 2026
  • Round two will run 1 September 2026 - 31 October 2026

The High Peak Community Climate Change and Nature Fund has been established since 2021 as part of the Council's efforts to tackle climate change and support nature recovery. The fund is intended to provide small grants to community-based organisations taking measures locally to tackle the climate and nature emergency.

The aim is to mobilise local communities, encourage people to work together in a voluntary capacity and empower individuals and communities to take actions which: reduce local CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions; build resilience in nature to mitigate the impact of climate change and support biodiversity; increase the ability of nature to absorb and store greenhouse gas emissions; and to increase the knowledge and action taken in our local communities.

Small grants, usually between £400 and £5000, are available to help support the Climate Change and Nature Delivery Plan 2025 (PDF, 875 KB). It will support practical measures such as tree planting and habitat improvement, community engagement works to increase awareness and the skills needed to change and adapt lifestyles, green travel/transport schemes, energy saving in community buildings, local food projects and recycling and reuse projects.

Grant applications are assessed around twice each year by a panel made up of public, private and third sector officers.

The total fund available is £20,000.

Who can apply?

The fund is for any community group which needs some help to set up a project to support nature or tackle climate change. The group's main purpose does not need to be related to the environment, just the specific project this would deliver.

The fund is administered by High Peak Community and Voluntary Support (HPCVS). Please contact Donna Wren at hello@highpeakcvs.org.uk or 01663 735 350 if you wish to discuss your application.
