Walking Movement

What is Walking Movement High Peak?

Walking Movement High Peak is all about helping the people in High Peak to move more. Walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise you can do, anyone can do it and it's very easy to get started. The Walking Movement will work with individuals, groups and organisations to set up and manage local walks as part of the wider Walk Derbyshire model. Alongside this there will be new activities in local green spaces including family activities and walk, jog, and run routes in parks.

Where and when are the walks?

Buxton Gentle Walk - Every Tuesday 10.30am, meeting outside Buxton swimming and fitness centre (Pavilion Gardens)

If you would like to volunteer to lead walks please contact Ross.Jillings@highpeak.gov.uk with your details and where you might want to volunteer.

What levels are the walks?

Gentle - suitable for people who have not walked much before, routes are chosen to ensure the walks are on good surfaces. Suitable for people looking for gentle exercise, to meet others and have a more active lifestyle.

Next Steps - these walks will ideally suit walkers who would like to go that little bit further.  Walks may include some slight up-hill walking and rougher terrain.

Progression Walks - more challenging walks which, depending on the route, are likely to include stiles, uphill and downhill walking on rougher terrain.

Other walking groups.

If you run a walking group, please get in touch and we will share details of your group here. Please contact Ross.Jillings@highpeak.gov.uk
