Private Housing Adaptations

Adaptations may allow residents to remain living independently in their homes for longer.

Who do I contact to talk about an adaptation?

If you feel that your home needs adapting or you want to enquire about support available please contact Derbyshire County Council Social Services on 01629 533190.

The County Council's Occupational Therapists will advise on the best means of adapting your home to meet your needs, and where you are eligible for grant assistance they will signpost your case to our service provider who will assist you with your application.

Disabled Facility Grants

How do I get equipment to help me around the house?

There is a vast range of Equipment to help you live safely at home. Derbyshire County Council can provide support with many of these but many items can also be bought independently and at low cost. Your GP may also be able to help source wheelchairs and walking aids.

Disabled parking bays

Derbyshire County Council can provide an advisory parking bay on a residential street, outside or as close as is feasibly possible to a Blue Badge holder's property.

Advice and support

Many people need an extra bit of Help to live independently. This may be as a result of illness, a disability or just getting older.
