Food hygiene complaints

If you have concerns about a food related business and it's standards then make a complaint here

The food safety team in environmental health carry out detailed inspections and audits of all types of businesses where food is prepared and sold in the area. This is to make sure that they are fully compliant with UK and European Community law.

We also investigate reported cases of food poisoning, explore complaints about unfit food and dirty premises.

We will respond to complaints within five working days. In urgent complaints or serious food poisoning incidents, we will try to respond in one working day.

The Food Standards Agency issues food alerts to alert local authorities and the public to national or regional problems concerning food. Once a food alert has been issued, food businesses normally voluntarily remove the affected product from sale. If a food company does not voluntarily withdraw the product, then enforcement action may be taken.

The latest food alerts can be viewed on the Food Standards Agency website (opens new window).

To report a problem or complaint with a product or premises to do with food poisoning, mould, fitness of the food or a foreign body in the food please complete the form below.
