Severe weather

If you have been affected by flooding please make sure you:-

  • Contact your home insurance company ASAP
  • Take pictures of the effects of the water and any damage caused before removing anything

Advice on flooding

  • contact the Environment Agency Floodline on 0845 988 11 88 for up to the minute advice on the risk of your area flooding
  • contact the county council call centre on 01629 533190 if you require sandbags
  • you can also check the Blue Pages flood warnings, an independent flood directory for details of where to purchase sandbags from
  • keep a list of important numbers with you - emergency services, utilities, insurance company
  • familiarise yourself with the isolation points for water, gas and electricity for your property
  • if it is safe to do so, isolate services prior to flooding
  • if you feel you are at risk of flooding, remove important documents and belongings to a safe place

Environment Agency is responsible for issuing up to date information regarding Flood Warnings in England and Wales.

Flooding risk mapping

To help to identify if your home is at risk from flooding, the Environment Agency website offers you the opportunity to view a flood risk map of your area.

If you find that you may be at risk from flooding register with the Environment Agency for their Flood Warning Service.

Severe Snow

Weather Warnings for exceptionally heavy snow are forecast by the Met Office.

Derbyshire County Council road maintenance are responsible for winter maintenance and gritting of public roads and footpaths in the county - this includes High Peak.

Make sure you keep up to date with the weather if snow is forecast.
