Bins and recycling

All you need to know about bins, recycling, bulky and assisted collections

Recycling centres consultation

If you use Derbyshire County Council's household waste recycling centres, but particularly the one at Glossop, you may want to have your say about proposals to close it.

The county council is experiencing financial challenges and has put forward proposals to close the centre, on Melandra Road, in order to save £360,000 a year in running costs.

A 12-week public consultation has been launched to gather people's views about the potential closure - including alternative options that would impact all household waste recycling centres in Derbyshire. For example, reducing the opening hours or days that all Derbyshire recycling centres open.

Anyone wishing to have their say should fill in the online questionnaire before the closing date on 23 July 2026. Paper copies can be printed from the county council's website, are available from all Derbyshire libraries or by contacting Call Derbyshire telephone: 01629 533190 to be posted out. Completed paper copies can be returned either by Freepost or dropped into any Derbyshire library.
